| Turning Sunlight into Electricity.. How is it possible? |
| A thin wafer of Silicon, often in a hexagon shape as depicted below,with positive and negative layers is placed facing the sun. The little packages of energy called photons come whipping down out of the sky and strike the Silicon top layer, knocking loose some of the electrons into the next layer where, if they are picked up by the little fine wires running across the surface of the panel, (not all are picked up, that is why Solar Panels are not as efficient as they could otherwise be), they are channeled down to the Batteries, where they change the chemicals in the battery to store energy |

| Those Electrons that are picked up, (still wishing to return to their former place,) are then forced to go via the connecting cables, down through the battery bank, - where they do work, charging the battery, before returning to the panel ready to start again. As indicated below, the sun's rays strike the Solar Panels on the roof of the house, the power is then stored in the Battery bank, and may be used at will, for example for lights at night time. |
