Inverters
Mains Power fromBatteries.

The Incredible advancement in
Inverter Technology in the last 10 years means that the days of 12 volt drills, blenders,
vacuum cleaners and the like are nearly done.

Although many stand alone houses will still be betterserved by low voltage lighting, reliable efficient 240 volt A.C. power from a modern inverter allows one to run any 240 volt device, - with a great consequent saving of money.

Naturally we have a hugerange of inverters, ranging from tiny little ones for answeringmachines, faxes, etc, to huge interactive ones for "Village"systems.

For example, starting fromthe smallest modified square wave, a 140 watt unit for $90; a 200watter(500 surge) $150; a 300 watts (surge 800) $196; Australian MadeSelectronic, 600 watts (2300 for half a minute) $890; and 1200continuous, 4600 half a minute, $1650; Most of these are 12 volt, but24 volt models are also often available.

Sine Wave inverters, although more expensive, offer the ability to run anything that is designed for Mains Power. The smallest one, 150 watts, is just over $400; but the real beauties on the market at the moment are the Selectronic 'Sines', - that's one pictured at the top of this page. There are three models out at the moment with 'Energy Management', The SA22, which runs on 12 or 24 volts, will put out 1600 watts continuously and surge to 3600 watts, cost $2685. The SA32, on 24 volts, can put out 2400 watts continuous and 6500 watts surge (cost$3395;) and the SA42, the 48 volt unit, 3600 watts continuous and 8500 watts surge(cost$4095). All of the SA(2) series have five year warranty, the capability for setting up as a system controller and measurer, and extremely easy repair, using just 3 slide in and out boards for instant fix.

As well, there are the no frills wall-mounted versions: the WM800-12 volt ($1520); the WM1000-24 volt ($1560); the WM1200-12 volt ($1890); and the WM1500-24 volt ($1980).

Then there are theinteractive inverters, which can synchronise with the grid, a dieselgenset, a wind generator etc, which can start and stop auxillarycharging devices, control Battery charging and the like, and come ina large range of sizes up to 50 kw or more.

Options include remotetelemetry, remote control, and the ability to add the inverters' powerto whatever else is supplying,(e.g. a genset, of say 4 kw, with a 5kw inverter will enable a 9kw output plus the surge capacity of theinverter for as long as that can be.

These are very individual to a particularsituation, so an enquiry for these more expensive inverters needs tobe specific, with a description of the situation it is going in to. -Emailus..
