President's Message

Last Week The Show!

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE/ Club Business

Don't forget that if the car park is full, you can park on the curved concourse in front of the hotel.
Give the concierge your car key in case they have to move it.

Good evening (or good morning depending on when this reaches you). I am writing this on Wednesday evening yet again in Rock Vegas (Rockhampton). I am again away with my work BUT this time I will return to Cairns to attend the Club's weekly meeting.

We have an important visitor this week - our District Governor, Trevor Williams will be with our club on his official visit as DG. Please extend our club's hospitality to him on this important occasion. Unfortunately, his wife Margaret and daughter Louise, are unable to be us. I look forward to hearing what Trevor has to tell us in this year of CELEBRATE ROTARY.

The Cairns Show is over for another year. The Club has done well at our Show Stall again raising a net figure of $2250 for 3 days effort. Additionally we have sold a number of tickets for the DUCK RACE in September. My thanks to all who gave up their time to work on the stall or sell Duck tickets.

Although I was not able to assist on our stall, I did spend a lot of time working on the Scouts food stall over the 3 days and coordinating the show gate roster (the people who collect the money at the showgates) on the Friday. However, my Champion boiled fruitcake wife & son represented the Plunketts at the Club's stall.

Our efforts over the coming 6 weeks MUST be to sell duck race tickets. It is an important event on our calendar so please give this project your support.

Please remember that there is a Board meeting next week on Tuesday evening.

That's all for now - see you on Friday.
