Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles

Paul Hogan is back, in Los Angeles this time, doing exactly what he's always done and it's still good fun.

Hogan seems to be able to satire Australians without belittling them.

I would expect that there will be some Aussies who will disagree with the above though, arguing that Crocodile Dundee portrays us as being ill educated, naïve, country hicks but Dundee seems to me to far too smart for us not to be proud of him.

The joke instead is on the Americans who fall to Dundee's bull and that's what these films are about. And anyway how much American gumph do we cop continuously.

The plot is tenuous, the film is almost like a series of skits from the Paul Hogan show of yesteryear and there's a son now, a young Dundee who strikes just the right tone of cheekiness mixed with respect.

It's a shame that Dundee knifing that mechanical snake is shown in the shorts because that was a big laugh lost and I'm not sure if we can even now forgive Hoges for marrying that Yank blond but he's still got plenty to teach foreigners.
