Charlie's Angels

Never saw the TV series but I bet it wasn’t as much fun as this little bit of silliness. It’s been interesting reading other reviews of Charlie’s Angels. They reviewers have been alternatively scathing or reasonably amused, but it seems that it really comes down to your choice of women.

Some got off on the relatively voluptuous Drew Barrymore, others on the fun, bum swaggered Cameron Diaz. Lucy Liu didn’t kick many goals but there’s no denying that it’s the girls who made the difference.

Those reviewers who couldn’t just sit back and enjoy the action and the women, should just lighten up and boogie a bit. For me it was Cameron Diaz who’s light hearted giggles were placed artfully in between huge kicks and Matrix like flying lunges.

She made a mockery of every heavy headed feminist argument I’ve never listened to. This was fun and wholesome and sexy all together and I was grateful. And Drew Barrymore had her moments.

Especially when she opened her trousered legs at her assailants, daring big men to have a go, and we knew that she would easily have her own good way. These girls were high kickin’ super heroes and I just loved the chain smoking Thin Man they fought against.

Why didn’t he turn out to be the cyborg he seemed to be and where did the girls learn to fight like that? There are a lot of unanswered questions in movie land and here’s another one. Just how long are Cameron Diaz’s legs???
