‘AMADEUS’ by Peter Shaffer

In old age, Salieri recalls his successful career as Court Composer to Joseph II Emperor of Austria, his hatred of Mozart, and how he contrived the brilliant young composer’s demise. A large cast, lavishly costumed and underscored with Mozart’s incomparable music, evoke the glories and excesses of Eighteenth Century Vienna.
*Special Joint Production between Cairns Civic Theatre and the Cairns Little Theatre. This production will not be eligible as part of the season of tickets package.

‘GULLS’ by Robert Hewett

'Gulls' confronts the audience in both subject matter and style. A
richly humourous, perceptive and deeply moving play about love,
frustration, guilt and courage. Frances comes home to care for
her brother Bill to find an old flame is ignited with Dan. Molly,
the nosy but helpful neighbour may stir the pot, but she is also there to
pick up the pieces. A delightful ensemble piece that will tug at
your heart-strings. You will shed tears of laughter at larrikin
Bill's antics as the play explores the depths of sibling love.
Uplifting and enlightening - a brilliant script promises a night of
theatre at its best.

Staged in the female toilet of an hotel on New Years Eve. Someone’s been dumped by her boyfriend and someone’s been two-timed. A savage comedy about men, women, revenge and the amazing versatility of tights. With a shocking twist at the end, it will have you both laughing and crying all in one play. A “must see”.

‘BREATH OF LIFE’ by David Hare

Life being what it is, one dreams of revenge. Gaugin's epithet serves as the motto for this moral tale of two women, both in their 60s, whose lives are interwoven in ways neither of them yet understands.
Eligible directors are invited to come forward with
proposed fringe plays they would like to direct as part of the 2009 season.
For directors who wish to climb the ladder and become a Cairns Little
Theatre director this is often the biggest and final hurdle of the process
and with a number of positions available in 2009 this could be your year.
Successfully completed, we may then see new directors in 2010. Please
