Products : Broadband (ADSL) Internet : Shaped Trial
Looking for Trial Users
We are in the final stages before introducing a fixed cost, shaped service. If you are interested in assisting in the process, you will need to have a suitable ADSL service already with us.
There are a number of restrictions on the service you need to be aware of:
- Shaping is performed on the service as described below
- Service is allocated a dynamic IP address (static is not an option)
- Filters on common service port (HTTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, RDP, etc)
- No free traffic - all traffic counts toward shaping decision
The shaping is implemented as follows:
- Business Period
Business Period shaping occurs on all services between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday. Services will be restricted to 192k in and 48k out.
- Excess
Excess shaping occurs when the total traffic received for the past 30 days exceeds 30GB or total traffic sent for the past 30 days exceeds 10GB. Services will be restricted to 64k in and 32k out until the total is no longer in excess. This is a rolling total based on the past 30 days and is not reset at the start of the month.
This is a trial - this means that there could be interruptions to the service or unexpected problems. If this occurs, you will be able to switch back to your main login but we would ask that you try to use the trial account as much as is possible.
The trial starts now and will finish at the end of January 2008 (although it may be extended to February 2008 if we feel there is a need). When connected to the trial account, we expect your usage to be trouble free, but offer no guarantee.
So what's in it for you? Well, free data. Your ADSL plan will continue to be billed as normal however you will be given a different login to access the trial account. Any data downloaded on the trial account, will not be counted on your normal monthly usage.
If you wish to participate, please send Feedback, including your name, email address and your ADSL login. In order to participate, you MUST be able to change the login name in your router yourself. This is necessary so that you can reverse the change in the event of a problem.
